The new and patented centering system, presented by Studio Progetti Automation, is the result of a considerable effort in research and development of artificial vision applied and integrated within the labeling machines. This new centering concept far surpasses the various orientation systems presented by the current state of the art of labeling machines.

It highlights greater flexibility, decimated times, high processing capacity, self-learning of the symbol as well as considerable efficiency during format change by the line operator. SPA VISION FOUR will be able to store any symbol on both glass and PET with the aim of analyzing, within the viewing space composed of four cameras, and identifying the same reference coming in at any position from 0 to 360 degrees. The compactness of the system allows the machine manufacturer to insert it inside the machine as an additional group in addition to the adhesive ones present on the machine. SAP VISION FOUR also represents the maximum dynamism in the face of any format change, in fact no mechanical adjustment has been foreseen referring to cameras and illuminators.

It will be the operator’s task to insert from the software platform some parameters necessary to successfully complete the calibration of the system and the subsequent self-learning of the reference.

By comparing the current technology with that presented in the project indicated here, it is possible to appreciate a new centering concept that presents the following innovative advantages:

  • From a manually calibrated system both in terms of positioning and parameterization of the sensor to an automatic camera system in detecting the format and self-calibrating without modifying any physical positioning of the centering system itself;
  • Automatic symbol recognition and centering by the system on any format with different geometric and chromatic characteristics both on glass and other materials;
  • Maximum adaptability to production speeds and to the number of formats in production thanks to the presence of an industrial PC;
  • Maximum reduction of format changeover downtime;
  • Fixed and non-mobile system without the need to use any tracking system;
